The Scarlet Stiletto Awards

Since 1994, the annual Scarlet Stiletto Awards run by Sisters-in-Crime have celebrated

short stories written by Australian women and featuring a strong female protagonist.

In the 2019 Awards Caroline received the Kerry Greenwood Malice Domestic Award for her story ‘Screwed’. In 2020 she was Highly Commended for two stories, ‘Combustible’ and ‘Love in the time of coronavirus’. In 2021she won the Art and Crime Award for ‘The

fragrance of the corpse flower’ and in 2023 the Crime on Campus Award for ‘Spiderwoman’.


Caroline is an active and enthusiastic member of Sisters in Crime, the organisation set up by the amazing Carmel Shute and others to help foster the careers and efforts of women crime writers in Australia.
