Caroline was awarded the AM, the Membership of the Order of Australia, in June 2014. She was honoured and humbled to receive the award, which was for her service in the area of healthcare for Aboriginal and recently-arrived immigrant women. Since 1994, the annual Scarlet Stiletto Awards run by Sisters-in-Crime have celebrated short stories written by Australian women and featuring a strong female protagonist. In the 2019 Awards Caroline received the Kerry Greenwood Malice Domestic Award for her story ‘Screwed’.
