Double Madness review - Tara Sharp

In Double Madness, Caroline de Costa presents for our delectation, the psychological oddity of ‘Folie a Deux’ – or ‘Induced Delusional Disorder’ – as the basis for a murder mystery. In this disturbed state, two people develop and inhabit a shared delusion, and then act out their lives accordingly. A very intriguing premise that is fertile ground for storytelling. The dramatic potential of this relationship is underscored by the setting. The story takes place in Cairns in 2011 during the aftermath of Yasi, the category five cyclone that cut a trail of destruction across Far North Queensland. Reviewed by A. V.
